2010Job4Launch. 100,000 orders a year, thirty percent of employee cost out at the same output.
2012ShotProject 365 starts. One extreme sports photograph a day.
2012WroteStyle manual for the Shark Cartel brands, with actual rules in it.
2013ShotProject 365 finished. Twelve days missed and made up.
2013ShotPortfolio of 49 frames curated: skate, snow, other sports, other.
2013Wrote“No watermark for me.” Dropped them after six months and said why.
2013JobASML. Team leader, then standardization, then cost.
2015ClosedShark Cartel and Dyrion wound down.
2016LoggedTen-minute blocks, every day. About 18 entries a day for twelve months, 59% of everything I ever logged.
2018LoggedLast entry. 10,641 in total, over 2,114 days since 2003.
2025ReadPassed a thousand books.
2026FoundedYINDOR. Fifth company.
2026BuiltPelgrim shipped: a travel record that maps where you have actually been.
2026BuiltSelf-hosted library live, with its own interface for Claude to read and update.

Three things I keep coming back to

The three o’clock test

Wake someone off the frontline at three in the morning and ask what the change is. If they cannot say it in one sentence, it is too complicated and it is already dead.

Learned by hiring badly

Periodization

Nobody sprints continuously and still does their best work. People need time to wander and think, and then they can sprint. Pressure only where it earns something.

Six years coaching athletes

Start from the commonality

Everyone fixates on the differences. A coordinator in Japan and one in the United States have far more in common than not. Prove what is shared, then personalize the remainder.
